HyLane GmbH (hylane), a provider of climate-friendly mobility, is a subsidiary of DEVK Versicherung based in Cologne. hylane places environmental protection at the center of its exclusively climate-friendly vehicle rental. The company offers hydrogen trucks with various superstructures and installations. Vans and buses will follow at a later date.

Rent hydrogen trucks based on usage

Maximum comfort with minimal risk – that is hylane's promise. Through a usage-based rental (the so-called "pay-per-use model"), hylane customers only pay for the kilometers actually driven. The risk of technical failures thus lies with hylane, not the users. All services (except driver and fuel) are included in the rental. hylane customers can choose from a range of emission-free vehicles, with a focus on fuel cell trucks. Initially, vehicles will be available from HYZON Motors, Hyundai, Daimler Trucks in cooperation with Clean Logistics Technology, and MAN Truck & Bus as a conversion solution from Framo eTrucks with fuel cells from Robert Bosch GmbH.

Climate-friendly mobility as an ecosystem

Since hylane views climate-friendly mobility as a holistic system, aspects such as energy production, adequate refueling and charging infrastructure, vehicle production chains, existing government subsidies, proof of CO2 savings, and possible recycling of individual vehicle components were integrated into the concept from the outset. hylane's goal is to enable its customers to manage sustainable and flexible mobility by consistently exploiting economic opportunities.

hylane enables renowned customers to transport sustainably

Sara Schiffer, Managing Director of hylane, said at the press conference: "We are in talks with renowned transport companies that are ready to join us in climate-neutral transport of their goods. We have already signed rental contracts for the first vehicles. The first customer is the global logistics service provider DB Schenker." She was complemented by Bernd Zens, board member of DEVK Versicherungen: "As one of the largest motor insurers in Germany, we want to contribute to decarbonization, especially in light of the current discussion about the use of fossil fuels." Axel Blume, head of the "Climate-Friendly Commercial Vehicles" team at the National Organization Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW GmbH), explains: "Commercial vehicles with hydrogen fuel cell drive, alongside battery and overhead line trucks, have great potential to make road freight transport in Germany more sustainable and thus contribute to achieving climate goals. NOW is pleased to accompany this start-up of DEVK."
